Speed up Firefox 4, 5 and other new latest version

Here in this post, we list up several ways to speed up firefox be it its browsing speed or its operating speed. Firefox 4 is really my favorite web browser but it can be tweaked even to make it more efficient and faster.Read below our Firefox 4 Speed Up tips.

Here are some of the ways to make Mozilla Firefox 4 browsing faster

Note : These tweaks are for advanced users or geeky person. If you’re newbie or novice, do not try this as these may negatively affect your browser performance. Proceed only if you know what you’re doing!

  1. In the address bar, type about:config
  2. Click on I’ll be careful, I promise! button
  3. In the filter box, type network.http
  4. From the list below, double click on Network.http.pipelining … Its value will change to True from false.
  5. Double click on Network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and change its value to double the number in it.
  6. As mentioned in the previous step, change the value i.e. double the value present in Network.http.max-connections and Network.http.max-connections-per-server
  7. After making the requisite changes, just close that page. It is saved automatically.

There are several other tips for speeding up firefox 4 like lowering cache memory for system with low RAM if firefox operates slow. Furthermore, using less addons and default firefox theme/persona enhance its operating speed overall.

I hope the above approach and steps help you surf the web in lightning fast speed!

I do not understand above things can one explain in detail and tell how to lower the cache memory

    • firefox says:

To lower the cache memory, just go to tools if you have menu bar otherwise click on firefox menu in the leftmost top position, then options, then advanced, then network, then edit the cache memory there, then click on ok button.. I hope this helps u!

      • nobody says:

What you replied there is the DISK CACHE, not the MEMORY CACHE 😛

        • firefox says:

Thanks for pointing but that is what we refer to when we speak of memory cache in lay terms.. The technology behind memory cache and disk cache is absolutely different but “Memory cache” term is more popular for what I mentioned above..

    I am using a dial-up connection.
How can I do to speed up my dial-up connection with Firefox?
Please reply me some effective suggestion.

    Thank you

    • firefox says:

Since you’re on slow dialup connection.. I’ll suggest you to use mozilla firefox as it works best on slow internet connection. You can’t do anything more to make things faster as firefox is already optimised for slower connections.

  4. David says:

I find that some servers slowdown with many requests from many ports, especially if with many persistant connections. so first time fast next times progressivly slower.
I don’t think NatMans like it.

    • firefox says:

Yeah, few web servers restrict persistent connection from the same ip address but the settings mentioned above is not going to affect as you’re not going to make it that much

  5. Roy says:

Tried the above suggestions and did as suggested but do not notice that Firefox 5.0 starts any faster.
